What will an independent Kalaallit Nunaat look like?

What needs to be decided will have to be decided by our people and the politicians. But we can imagine how our day-to-day life will change in a society where we are independent:

Nation and identity, sense of ownership:
  1. We are independent as a nation and have full responsibility for our nation.
  2. The responsibility means that we are all united in the task of building our nation.
  3. We have a real independence day we can celebrate
  4. We have a clear view on who is a citizen and who is not. No more talk about "who is more or less Kalaaleq".
  5. We maintain 100% focus on development of Kalaallit Nunaat. based on votes from citizens of Kalaallit Nunaat.
  6. We have our own voice in international organizations such as UN, Arctic Council and other international organizations.
  7. Our children will grow up as independent people and with a clear identity.
  8. Where we can send people to represent Kalaallit Nunaat in sports- and cultural gatherings as well as for education.
  9. We will have a truly equality based relationship with Denmark. The respect for us as a nation we will have to earn, but we have the freedom til build it.

Focus on development of Kalaallit Nunaat
  1. We have full control of our minerals and raw materials without seeing Denmark receiving half of our income.
  2. We can look ahead in a clear manner without having to relate to the "realm" or commonwealth with Denmark all the time. We have moved on.
  3. Politics is not about parties but about people and our country.
  4. We have a public administration well suited to our needs and not just a copy of the Danish institutions
  5. We have a responsibility to secure access to housing, health care, education and decent social conditions based on the conditions that we put forward ourselves
  6. We collaborate directly with Nordic countries and other countries about education and science where it makes use also in the value creation for Kalaallit Nunaat
  7. Where the education is arranged to support children and young people to tage responsibility for their own country with their own language while we also use a 2nd language towards the world (English)
  8. Where we support the personal development for each individual in the population in order to manage the tasks we see and wish to see with an emphasis on supporting our values and social and cultural norms
  9. Where we can focus on our unity internally and globally and not just inside Denmark and the Realm
  10. Where we can work in a dedicated and focused manner towards the deadline in 30 years to eliminate the need for the block grant.

It is the people and politicians who need to decide but all of this has to start with one thing: Protecting and strengthening our roots: The collective soul of the people and the desire and will to take responsibility, and be fully aware of our identity…. to be free.

How will you imagine how Kalaallit Nunaat looks once we are independent?
