On the occasion of the Danish Constitution Day June 5th, 2023

The last amendment to the Danish constitution celebrates its 70th anniversary… nothing to celebrate for us in Kalaallit Nunaat.

We wrote an article about how we see the Danish constitution and the Danish Realm.

Conclusion:
It can therefore be argued very simply that the manipulation from 1953 has been continued with the Self Rule Act from 2009 and in the years after. It certainly looks very clean and respectful from the outside, but it has never been the intention of Denmark to give Kalaallit Inuit a free choice, nor to assist in the process to work towards that choice. Denmark is acting as an overlord who has created an economical dependency which eliminates all opportunities for Kalaallit Nunaat to act with equal rights within the international community.

This is what the 70th anniversary reminds us of, and therefore we clearly state that there is nothing to celebrate from Kalaallit Nunaat.

Draft constitution for Kalaallit Nunaat is here!

Congratulations to all of us! The finalization of the draft for our constitution represents a giant leap towards the creation of our own state because
1. It signals in an unequivocal way that we seek the creation of our own state
2. It provides a linguistic foundation to safeguard that the underlying identity and culture in our nation building stays loyal to our values as cititizens in Kalaallit Nunaat
3. It provides a framework and a solid structure from which we, the people of Kalaallit Nunaat, can use to further develop our future constitution.

The draft and final report on our future constitution contains a solid foundation which respects our language, our roots and way of thinking. It has all the necessary technical content. On top of this is, it is a draft constitution which has specific paragraphs to protect children, the environment, and which omits any reference to the obligation for any citizen to be drafted into military service in case of conflicts.

We are grateful for the foresight that made this work possible. We also wish to thank those who took part in this work. It can easily be considered crucial for the survival of our people. Congratulations to all of us!

Today is a dark date in the history of Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland).

Today, November 22, is the date in 1954 where United Nations voted for adopting resolution 849(IX) which also accepted that Denmark should no longer report on Greenland as a Non Self-Governing Territory, thus effectively accepting that Greenland should be considered completely integrated into the the Danish Realm.

Press Release
A brand new tool to support the Greenlandic debate on independence has been released.

An independent Kalaallit Nunaat is a very familiar subject to most people in Greenland. Most of us know of this public debate which, until now, has been very unstructured. We are a group of citizens from Kalaallit Nunaat who have been working on creating a foundation for a more indepth dialogue than what has been available in the past.

After 300 years with the current structure we believe time has come to put action behind all the talk which takes place in many Greenlandic households today.

To support the debate and the actions that are needed we have published a new website on March 5, 2021. We take the position that independence indeed is possible to achieve, and also that we find the matter very important. We do so to counter the more traditional views against the belief that independence can be achieved. See more on https://www.inuitnutaat.org/ The site will be translated to English within the month of March 2021.

We are not a political party. You can not vote for us. We do not follow any formal political agenda set by any party. We support all those who work towards the independence of Kalaallit Nunaat, a Kalaallit Nunaat we also offer our view on in terms of what it would look like once independent.

We are passionate about creating our own free nation where we can express ourselves in free terms, no matter which status we have in our society. We are a part of the voice of the people.
